I don't know if any parents even go on this forum, but this is for you. They complain, "Kids are growing too fast! Our little babies are becoming teenagers so young! They lose their innocence! Wahhh!!!!" but you shouldn't be blaming them, it's your fault. And it's mostly about overprotection, that's what causes an eagerness to grow up. Like not letting them go outside. One purpose of bicycles is an alternate form of transportation, for kids to still be able to go places even if they can't drive. But over hyping of the dangers of going outside, stranger danger, it bars kids from even being able to go to the 7-eleven 1 block away. Then parents wonder why their kids are always wanting them to drive them to toy stores. Then these kids snap, they go to their places without permission, and they get reported to the police as runaways. Thus it is a hurry to finally turn 16, to finally be able to drive where they want. But wait, once they turn 16, they don't want to go to toy stores anymore. Kids are not like you, they don't want to sit on the couch and watch tv all day.
Then there are all these new age limit laws. No using facebook until you turn 13, according to COPPA. And how in the world are you supposed to get a decent amount of money if you can't get a job. I mean most parents give their kids maybe 5 dollars a week for mowing the lawn. A job flipping mcdonalds at work is rich compared to that, 7 dollars an hour.
And then there's the effect of how time seems to go by faster as you get older. So what seems fast to you, just drag and draaags for kids.
I hope these arguments have rendered your statement moot.

I don't think kids are growing up too fast. I think kids want others (and themselves as well) to believe that they are growing up so that they can get away from this overprotection and show people that they can handle themselves very well.
